Emma
by J. Austen
Duration: 2 hours, 40 minutes (with a 20-minute interval)
Emma tells the story of a beautiful, rich and slightly spoiled young woman, whose favourite pastime is matchmaking. She had foreseen the happy union of her governess Miss Taylor with the jolly Mr. Weston, their wedding setting the scenery for the start of the story. With the encounter of Harriet Smith, Emma sees an opportunity to once again indulge in the pleasures of matchmaking. After all, Harriet deserves a handsome young man of good ascent, does she not? Blinded by pride and ignoring the warnings of Mr. Knightley, she pursues her plan...until she starts doubting: could Emma Woodhouse herself be falling in love?
