Although we want by no means to spoil the plot for you, we can reveal some small things about the setting of the story. Ten people who've never met before, are (under various pretences) invited for a short visit to an island. Soon it is revealed that none of them has ever seen their host or hostess in the flesh. A few strange occurences later, it becomes clear that there is a link to their presence on the island and an old 'nursery rhyme' about ten little indians....
Ten little Indian Boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little Indian Boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.
